ENOX Floor Spring FAQs
Floor spring hides in the floor and lets the door swing both ways (push in or pull out). Door closer sticks on the wall or door top, shows more and usually only closes from one way depending on the way it is installed.
However, the key difference between door closers and floor springs is whether they carry the load of the door or not. Floor springs are load bearing members that also support the weight of the door in addition to swinging the door open and close. A door closer on the other hand just closes the door in a controlled and safe manner. A floor spring is like a combination of a hinge or a pivot and a door closer.
3) Which floor spring is best for glass doors?
In India, ENOX offers an extensive range for floor spring options. Most ENOX floor springs, even at the lower end of their weight carrying capacity will safely support standard glass doors. They hold and support heavy glass doors, don't break easily and make doors glide like butter. Perfect for shops or homes with pretty glass entrances.
4) How much weight can a floor spring hold?
The ENOX floor spring ranges from products like FH 542, FH 842 and FHHS 3100 for 60-100kg doors, equivalent to a big fridge. This turns out to be more than enough to support any standard commercial glass door of 3-4 feet by 3 feet door using a standard 13 mm glass sheet or a wooden door of 3-4 feet by 3 feet and 45mm thickness which both weigh around 40-42 kg. However, if the application is for much bigger and heavier doors, then models like FH 844 H or FH 944 H handle up to 250 kg like a giant hall or a banquet door.
Pick by your door's weight so the door doesn't sag or stick.
5) How do you adjust a hydraulic floor spring?
Lift the top cover. You’ll see small screws inside. Depending on the model, you’ll see different number of screws. Each of them controls a specific aspect. One reduces the closing speed to make door close slower, one for a higher latching speed that gives a stronger "snap" at the end and one to adjust the EN power size according to your door.
Easy tweaks with simple tools.
6) How long does a floor spring last?
The short answer, about 10-15 years in India, if you use it normally.
The long answer is that it depends. It depends on other factors like frequency of use, weather conditions, regular service and maintenance and more. Busy spots wear it faster like shoes on rough roads. ENOX floor springs are tested for 500,000 cycles and depending on the model are also EN1154 certified and come with up to 10 years of warranty, giving you reliability and endurance.
7) What causes a floor spring to leak oil?
Oil leaks when rubber seals wear out (like old tire tubes), the metal rod bends or there has been something with the installation. It is recommended to check this out with professionals. Reach out to us for any repairs on any ENOX products at:
8) Can a floor spring be repaired?
Small fixes, yes, like new seals for leaks. But if oil gushes or inside breaks bad, it is recommended to buy a new one for safer and cheaper operation in the long term.
9) What is the price of a heavy-duty floor spring?
ENOX has something for everyone, with prices ranging from ₹4,500 to ₹10,000 and even ₹20,000 depending on the need. If you have regular sized domestic or residential doors, one can go with a more regular option. However, for more specialized needs like unusually heavy or wide doors or premium applications like a museum, a fancy hotel or venue, you can go for the higher price options.
